About UsText Box: WHAT IS EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION CHALLENGE?

This is a public service program put into action through the efforts of Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep owner, Randy Dye.
Volusia and Flagler County schools were just starting to feel the pinch of budget cuts at the beginning of the school year of 2008 and there were many more to follow.
The auto industry was beginning to feel the pinch of a waning economy.
Most of the businesses in the area were crawling under covers and hoping the wave would pass them by.
We had a different idea: concentrate on helping another important segment of the community and hopefully, create a better environment for us all. It was time for businesses to help out the communities they do business in.
Bright House Networks saw the benefit of this way of thinking and joined us along with LPGA International and thus, Excellence in Education Challenge was created for the school year 2008-2009 and continues today.
This program gives laptop computers provided by Bright House Networks away each grading quarter to a student and dinner for 4 donated by LPGA International to the mentor/teacher that student names.
Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram has given away a 2009 Dodge Challenger, a 2010 Jeep Wrangler and this year will be giving away a 2011 Jeep Patriot.
Our sponsors and our local businesses donate wonderful gifts for our winning teacher and substantial goody bags for our contestants.
These are businesses that are struggling too.
But, the beauty of all of this is that everyone put their own troubles aside to help our schools, by inspiring high school students. They hope to enrich Volusia and Flagler Counties with educated, principled teenagers that contribute to our area.
The school budget cuts affected many areas that students look forward to: sports, music, art. With the school cutbacks Volusia and Flagler Counties are experiencing, the private sector has to step up to the plate and provide incentives for our students.
